Certain hotels in this site have breakfast included in the hotel tariff however we do recommend that people also try and eat outside the hotels and try local foods. Japan is not as expensive as you might think.
INFORMATION ON JAPAN
Japan operates on a 100 Volts, 50-60MHz. If you intend to take appliances from Australia to Japan make sure they have the ability to operate on world wide voltage. Japan operates on a 2 pin flat blade plug (straight up and down), similar to the US.
Tipping is not normally customary at restaurants and in taxis etc. It is perfectly normal to keep all your change.
Japan has 3 major holiday periods, New Years, Golden Week (early May), and Obon (mid August).
